Gibbs named national player of the week

Ta’Kierra Gibbs from Central Georgia Tech has been named NJCAA women’s DI national basketball player of the week for games Jan. 21-27.
Gibbs utilized back-to-back double-double performances last week to lead the Cougars to two crucial victories. Going up against No. 15 Darton State (Ga.), the freshman scored a game-high 26 points to go along with 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals in an 82-79 win. Gibbs came back with 22 points, 21 rebounds, six assists and five more steals Sunday as Central Georgia Tech topped Chattahoochee Tech (Ga.), 85-80.
