Golden Knights sweep LaGrange JV
LAGRANGE, Ga. – West Georgia Tech’s baseball team swept the LaGrange College junior varsity squad, 11-10 and 8-0, on Wednesday to improve to 5-1 on the year.
In game one, the Golden Knights survived a slug-fest in a game that went nine innings.
West Georgia Tech trailed 5-3 in the fourth before scoring seven unanswered runs over the next three innings to take a 10-5 lead into the bottom of the sixth. But the Panthers scored two in the sixth and three more in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings tied 10-10.
Mike Bryan singled home the eventual winning run in the top of the ninth. Bryan hit a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth and went 3-for-4 in the game with 3 RBIs.
Sean Watson also collected three hits, going 3-for-4. The Golden Knights had 15 hits in the game.
Game two featured another solid outing on the mound from Augusta State transfer Tyler Banks, who allowed just one hit in five innings of work to pick up the win leading the Golden Knights to an 8-0 victory. Banks is now 2-0 as a starter on the season.
Anthony Brown and Dalton Trasher led an 11-hit attack for West Georgia Tech offensively, as they both collected two hits.
West Georgia Tech continues a four-game road swing on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Boaz, Ala., to take on Snead State. Saturday’s doubleheader will get underway at 1 p.m. ET.
