Cavaliers send Georgia Perimeter home after 9-1 smash
ALBANY – Brandon Goldsmith allowed a single run in seven innings as the Cavaliers cruised to a 9-1 win by run-rule over Georgia Perimeter College, Thursday, in Game 6 of the GCAA tournament at Cavalier Field in Albany.
The blowout win advances Darton into Game 8 at 3:30 p.m., Friday, against No. 4 seed Gordon College. It also knocked Georgia Perimeter, who entered as the No. 1 seed, out of the tournament.
While Goldsmith pitched all seven innings tonight and allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out three, the Cavalier offense went berserk and scored all nine runs in three innings.
The most notable inning was the fifth as Darton State scored four runs beginning with a RBI single by Kyle Conkle that was followed by RBIs from Rashad Billups and Tripp Calhoun.
Billups got a hit in each of his two at bats. His offensives efforts combined with those of Kody Adams, Conkle and James combined for nine hits and four RBIs.
