West Ga Tech wins shoot-out
West Georgia Tech won the men’s game 109-105 in thrilling fashion to improve to 4-6 on the season.
WGTC has won three of its last four games and have won two-straight high-scoring games in the final minute. The Knights defeated Macon State 99-95 back on November 30th.
Lo’Ren Hall (McHeachern) led WGTC with 26 points. Hall also grabbed eight rebounds, dished out six assists and had five steals for West Georgia Tech. Blair Austin added 19 points and Randazerro Chaney chipped in 15 points to go along with six assists and four steals.
Shaun Monk (Hiram) had 13 points, including the game-winner with 40 seconds remaining on the clock to put the Knights ahead 107-105. Denmark Tech had possession with a chance to tie or take the lead but Alyja Hennings came through with a clutch block to preserve the lead.
WGTC led by 11 at the half.
“I’m proud of our guys for coming through at the end of the game again,” WGTC head coach Niki Okolovitch said. “Any win on the road is a good win, especially when we travel four hours and beat a Division 1 junior college team. Between our preseason schedule and our regular season, we’ve been involved in a lot of these close, down to the last possession games and our guys step up and make the big play every time.”
